Radio Tees favourite Alex Hall is the latest familiar voice to bid farewell to listeners as part of the BBC’s changes to local radio services nationwide.
Hall had been a regular on the North East’s radios for 35 years, including presenting the popular “Songs From The Shows” for many years on a Sunday evening.
Hall’s regular show ended in November, however the presenter was asked to provide cover over the holiday season, with her last show going out on New Year’s Day. Hall took to Twitter to “concede defeat,” describing her festive reprieve as “delaying the inevitable.”
Hall is one of many high-profile BBC local radio departures as the broadcaster focuses on a “digital first” approach for its local services, including by increasingly syndicating content for regional or even national broadcast across its 39 local stations across England.
