Design and innovation company Magnetic has been awarded B Corp status after demonstrating “a commitment to design a better world and embrace diversity to bring responsible new products and services to market.”

Magnetic said that it has built on its core values and purpose to achieve the award and join over 1,300 B Corps in the UK. Magnetic joins a community of like-minded businesses that includes Simplyhealth, Finisterre, Innocent Drinks and Simply Business.

Co-founder and CFO, Richard Poole, said: “I am incredibly proud to announce that Magnetic is now a certified B Corp, joining a global community of businesses and organisations that prioritise people, planet and purpose.

“Our purpose is to ‘design better futures’ by working with ambitious brands such as Mars Wrigley, Bupa, Google, Innovate UK and Simply Business who are reinventing business. They understand the importance of driving change and becoming a force for good. We aim to support purpose driven businesses that strive to make a difference in the world.

“For us, B Corp is the economic alternative to a world dominated by shareholder-only decision making. And to be part of this community, in the innovation industry that should be leading the way in this space, is something very exciting indeed.”

Co-founder and chief creative officer, Lou Cordwell, OBE, added: “Around 196,000 businesses globally have registered to use the B Corp impact tools. Together we’re contributing to a future where sustainability and inclusivity are not just an afterthought but a fundamental aspect of design and decision-making processes. Our focus is to use design as a powerful tool to work with our clients to make new responsible and sustainable products and services.

“We’re incredibly proud to be only one of 6,000 companies in the world that have been certified as meeting the high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability as prescribed by B Lab.”

Magnetic was formed from the 2021/22 merger of design two consultancies, London’s Fluxx and Manchester’s magneticNorth. The combined agency offers 30 years of experience from twin offices in Manchester and London and works with governments, corporates and fast-growing start-ups with the core aim “to design better futures.”
