Ad bans for home improvement companies

bannedTwo Northern companies promoting products for people to improve their properties have had their adverts banned this morning.

Cheshire based Low Cost Building Maintenance and Lancashire based Optima Energy Solutions have been rapped by watchdog, the Advertising Standards Association (ASA).

The first had placed a directory ad for a roofing company which stated ‘Stockport’s Flat Roof Specialists’. Text below stated ‘Rubberbond EPDM System. With 20 Year Guarantee’. The ad also featured a logo for the Federation of Master Builders.

The second involved a brochure advising on heating solutions and which also claimed the savings could be calculated using a calculator from the University of Leeds whose logo was also published.

Both companies were told that their ads could not be published again and also warned not to use the logos from the third party organisations.
