Advertising company, Media Displays, has taken on 14 new members of staff.

The firm, now based in Barnsley supplies mobile LED advertising displays screens, which are attached to vans.

With 26 staff, it claims that sales have also increased by 37% since moving from Wakefield last year.

“We needed a space that fitted our current requirements but that still allowed room for further growth, and the unit we found was ideal. We were also attracted to Barnsley because of the excellent links to the M1 and A1, which is vital for us as our vans are up and down motorways every day,” explained Ian Taylor, managing director of Media Displays.

“The move has allowed us to increase our workforce to meet the rise in demand for our products and services. Being able to tap into the local employment pool in Barnsley was also one of the reasons we were drawn to the area.”

Taylor appeared on the BBC’s Dragon’s Den in 2010 and was offered £80k from James Caan. While the deal didn’t go through, the business did benefit from the exposure.

It currently works with a number of “major supermarkets”, racecourses and police forces.

Taylor said they planned to create “at least” 20 more jobs over the next 12 months.
