Michelle Keegan takes The Blame as ITVX hits 3bn streams for 2026

ITVX delivered a stellar performance in September, propelled by strong drama launches, landmark documentary and streaming-friendly unscripted.

The platform reached 3 billion streams on 9th September, achieving the milestone two full months faster than in 2025.

The latest data also reveals that ITVX delivered over 1 billion streams in Q3, marking the third consecutive quarter to surpass the 1 billion stream threshold. Prior to 2026, the platform had achieved a 1-billion-stream quarter only once in its history (Q1 2025).

ITVX’s strong September drama slate is led by The Blame, starring Michelle Keegan and produced by Quay Street with post from MediaCity Post, which is tracking as the UK’s biggest new drama across any channel or streaming platform in 2026, based on 14 days of viewing. The six part series, released on the platform on September 20th, is the top title of the month on ITVX, with an average of 6.6 million viewers so far for the launch episode, and viewing continues to rise.

Trigger Point saw Vicky McClure back as bomb disposal expert Lana, and the series solidified its status as ITV’s biggest returning drama for its strong viewing performance in September. So far 6.0 million viewers have seen the first episode, making it ITVX’s second biggest title of the month.

Big Brother was September’s stand out reality title, with streams up by over 50% year on year, based on 19 episodes to date of this series. Total viewing of the series on ITV2 and ITVX up +6% and 16-34 viewing up +7%, with a top audience of 1.4 million to date.

The Only Way is Essex was another strong performer in the month, ending its 38th series in September, and delivering its biggest audience for four years, with 60% of the audience coming through ITVX streaming.

September also saw television’s most celebrated longitudinal documentary series come to a deeply moving conclusion with 70 Up, directed by Oscar-winner Asif Kapadia. The two-part finale is ITV’s most watched factual programme for over two and a half years (since Mr Bates vs the Post Office the Real Story in January 2024) with an audience of 4.3 million viewers and rising, with the episodes proving strong drivers of new and lapsed viewers.

ITVX’s most watched acquired title of the month was The Rainmaker, a thrilling crime drama series adaptation of John Grisham’s 1995 novel of the same name. Released on the platform on September 4th, the 10 part series has attracted over 6 million programme streams on ITVX in the month.

Finally, the festive season arrived early on ITVX with the launch of the Christmas Movies 24/7 channel on 1st September, which is already the sixth most-watched channel on the service.

The portfolio of pop up FAST channels on ITVX will build to a total of 20 over the next month, with two additional pop-up channels available for live event coverage, further expanding the offer to viewers. Channels dedicated to everything from Love Island to Vera and Crime Drama to Comedy will soon be joined by a bespoke film channel and back-to-back episodes of retro faves including Classic Corrie and Thunderbirds.
