Heritage clothing appointment for Manchester agency newcomer

British heritage clothing brand Cotton Traders has appointed Manchester agency The PR Barn to lead its digital PR strategy.

The PR Barn will work across product, lifestyle and brand storytelling to secure coverage across consumer media titles, bringing the brand’s reputation for style, quality and comfort to life online while supporting the business’s commercial objectives and driving sales across its extensive menswear and womenswear range.

The appointment follows a competitive pitch process and comes as Cotton Traders continues to invest heavily in building brand momentum to support its growing retail, direct and e-commerce channels.

Shona Jameson, chief commercial officer at Cotton Traders, said: “Drawing ever closer to the business’s 40th anniversary, Cotton Traders continues to go from strength-to-strength, welcoming new customers who shop across every channel. As we develop our online offering, finding the right digital PR partner who gets our business and can tell our story authentically, in a way that engages media while demonstrating commercial impact, is key to our future success. The PR Barn understood that brief well and is already delivering against it.”

Jack Rigby, founder of The PR Barn, added: “Cotton Traders has a well-earned reputation for creating stylish, quality, comfortable clothing that people love to wear. We’re over the moon to be working with a loved and trusted heritage brand. Their product pages are filled with five-star reviews from brand loyalists, our mission is to take a little of that magic, sprinkle on some creativity and shine a light on it for the world to see, driving product coverage, increasing brand exposure and delivering commercial impact.”

The PR Barn was founded by Rigby, a veteran of Northern agencies including Carousel and Brazen and i-house work at Vita Group and Stockport County FC, in 2025 with a mission to “unleash brand potential through creative communications.”

The Manchester-based agency has extensive experience across consumer, property and corporate businesses. In its first year, the business was shortlisted for best use of creativity, best use of consumer media relations and best agency newcomer in the PR Moments awards and works with brands such as Skiddle, Cotton Traders, SecondSim, Cityheart and Claremont.
