New Writing North has named Sinéad Rocks as its new Chair of Trustees.
Rocks, who until this summer was Channel 4’s Nations and Regions Managing Director, was recently named CEO of screen training organisation, ScreenSkills.
Newcastle-based New Writing North leads the development of creative writing and reading across the region.
Over the last 18 months, it’s secured £10.5m to open a new public venues dedicated to writing, reading and publishing in the city centre. This is set to open in 2029 in the Grade II-listed Old Post Office.

“I’m honoured to become Chair at such an important moment in New Writing North’s history,” said Rocks.
“The new centre is an ambitious and timely investment in Newcastle, the North and the UK’s creative future. I’m looking forward to working with Claire, the board, the team and our partners to build on this unique organisation’s exceptional legacy.”
Rocks takes over from Helen Dalby, who’s held the role on an interim basis for the last 9 months.
