PrettyLittleThing founder Umar Kamani launches new Dubai-based fashion brand

Manchester-born PrettyLittleThing co-founder Umar Kamani has announced that he is building a new consumer brand “at the intersection of fashion and wellness,” with the founding team being built from the ground up in Dubai.

Kamani is one of the most successful UK fashion entrepreneurs of his generation. He co-founded social-focused fashion brand PrettyLittleThing (PLT) at 24 and was a minority shareholder when Boohoo acquired the remaining 34 per cent of PLT, in a deal worth up to £323.8 million, in 2020.

Posting a callout for new hires on Instagram (where else?), Kamani announced that he is looking for everyone from fashion designers and buyers to digital and social experts, creative, 3PL and distribution, finance and other founding roles. All roles are full-time and Dubai-based as Kamani embraces a change of scenery for his next venture.

Kamani’s existing business, interior designer Kamani Rossar which he co-founded with his brother and PLT co-founder Adam Kamani and leading interior designer Rob Rosser in 2024, also had a heavy Dubai influence with studios in London and the Middle Eastern city, and a stated aim of providing “interior design services to an external base of global, luxury clients, as well as for Kamani Property Group’s portfolio of commercial, residential and industrial buildings in major cities including Manchester, London, Mumbai, Dubai and New York City.”

2024 was also the same year Kamani returned to PLT as CEO with a vow to “reconnect with customers and make the brand ‘special’ again.”
