Outdoor brand Berghaus is to open its first ever standalone store at Manchester Arndale this month after more than 60 years of equipping adventurers across the world.
The new space will serve as a dedicated “Gateway to the Outdoors” and a dynamic community hub, the brand promises.
Deeply rooted in Berghaus’ proud northern heritage, the venue is intentionally designed to foster connection through interactive community events, specialist expertise, and shared adventures. It’s also home to Repairhaus, where the team repairs well-loved gear free of charge.

To mark the opening, Berghaus will host a week-long programme of events celebrating the people, places and communities that make the North West’s outdoor scene so special. From community walks and local partnerships to crisp sandwiches and four-legged visitors, the programme reflects the spirit of the new space and the people it’s been built for.
The grand opening will take place on Wednesday 26 August from 9:00am, with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by co-founder Peter Lockey, legendary British mountaineer and longstanding Berghaus ambassador Sir Chris Bonington, and ambassador and adventurer Ed Jackson.
The first 50 visitors through the doors will receive a complimentary Berghaus backpack filled with branded gifts. One lucky guest will also discover a Berghaus Trango Jacket inside their pack.
Throughout the morning, Manchester’s CROP Radio will provide the soundtrack with live DJ sets from inside the new store.
CROP will be back on the wheels of steel on Friday 28 August, with the CROP Radio DJ Takeover, showcasing some of Manchester’s most exciting emerging female artists.
Visitors are invited to explore the new space while enjoying complimentary drinks as the store transforms into a community celebration.
On Saturday 29 August, the Bada Bing Crisp Sandwich Pop Up lands in store. To celebrate the opening, Berghaus has partnered with Manchester favourite Bada Bing to serve 50 limited edition crisp sandwiches on a first come, first served basis, then on Sunday 30 August the City Daze Community Walk takes place.
As part of City Daze’s launch into Manchester, Berghaus has partnered with the community to host its first ever city walk. Beginning at the Manchester Arndale store, the inclusive walk will explore the city through an outdoor lens, and the first 50 participants will receive complimentary Berghaus products, with refreshments waiting back at the store following the walk.
Finally, on Monday 31 August, BarkHaus Pawloroid Day will be dedicated to four-legged adventurers. Visitors are encouraged to bring their dogs into the store for complimentary treats and the opportunity to feature on the Berghaus Pawloroid Wall of Fame.
