£160k boost as Liverpool proptech aims to take steamlined homesales national

Breezemove, a Liverpool proptech platform that claims to transform the home-moving process, has secured a £160k investment from GC Angels to support its expansion into Manchester and beyond, and further enhance its technology platform.

Founded in 2022 by property developer and entrepreneur Phil Melia, Breezemove was created to address longstanding inefficiencies within the UK property market. Unlike traditional property transaction platforms that focus primarily on milestone tracking, Breezemove manages the entire transaction value chain, creating greater transparency and accountability for all parties involved. The platform streamlines communication and accountability across the entire property transaction process, helping estate agents, solicitors and buyers move quickly and confidently.

Already operating across Birmingham and Liverpool, Breezemove has demonstrated significant impact within the property sector. The platform has helped halve transaction times while also reducing the likelihood of property sales falling through by more than 90%, tackling one of the industry’s most persistent challenges.

The investment comes at a time when pressure on the UK housing market continues to intensify. Recent data from the Telegraph and the Institute of Chartered Surveyors shows that the average time taken to sell a home has reached a nine-year high, with the backlog of unsold properties increasing by 26%.

The investment will provide additional working capital to support product development, strengthen the company’s technology capabilities and accelerate its growth strategy as it expands into new markets across the UK. It follows Breezemove’s participation in GC Angels’ first Venture Forward accelerator programme cohort, backed by Innovate UK, which supports underrepresented founders from across the North as they prepare for their first institutional investment round.

The investment follows previous backing from FSE Capital in 2023 and forms part of an ongoing fundraising round of £750k, with the company having also secured support from angel investors.

Breezemove currently employs a team of eight and plans to significantly expand its workforce over the coming months, growing both its sales and technology functions. The company is also looking to recruit specialist data scientists and product talent as it continues to develop its platform and strengthen its data-driven capabilities.

Breezemove has already begun onboarding estate agents across Greater Manchester, and plans to target further expansion into Leeds, London and Bristol as it continues to scale nationally.

Phil Melia, founder and CEO of Breezemove, said: “Having spent more than a decade in property development, I experienced first-hand the frustrations and inefficiencies that exist throughout the home-moving process. We launched Breezemove to bring greater accountability, transparency and efficiency to every stage of the transaction journey.

“The Venture Forward programme really helped us to understand what was required when undergoing an institutional funding round, and was ultimately invaluable when we were raising funds. This investment from GC Angels now gives us the capital we need to continue enhancing our technology and accelerating our growth. We’ve already seen strong adoption across Birmingham, Liverpool and now Manchester, and we’re excited to build on that momentum as we expand into new regions.”

Ranvir Singh, investment manager at GC Angels, added: “The property transaction process is extremely complex and fragmented. Breezemove…addresses these challenges by improving accountability and transparency across the entire transaction chain.

“With transaction timelines increasing across the market and consumers facing greater uncertainty throughout the home-moving process, solutions that can improve efficiency and reduce fall-through rates have a significant role to play in the future of the sector.

“Phil and the team have combined deep sector expertise with a clear vision for how technology can modernise the home-moving experience. This was clear throughout our first Venture Forward programme, and it’s why we’re so excited to now be to supporting Breezemove as it scales its platform, expands into new markets and continues to deliver meaningful improvements for property professionals and consumers alike.”
