Leeds athlete launches new EDRA sportswear brand

Today (29th June), a new British running apparel brand born and built in Leeds launches with a complete summer running collection.

EDRA, founded by Leeds-based former professional cyclist and competitive runner Nathan Edmondson, who has represented Great Britain in mountain running and is a Leeds Marathon winner, opened early access to its waiting list on Saturday 27 June, with the full debut collection now live to the public at www.edrasports.com.

The name isn’t an accident, EDRA takes its name from the River Aire, the river that runs straight through the city Edmonson calls home, and the brand has been built and tested with input from runners across the Leeds road, trail and fell scene. The connection of the River Aire carries through to the kit itself, with nearly every piece in the collection carrying EDRA’s signature mark, a line tracing the curve of the River Aire, as a quiet, recurring nod to where the brand began.

Nathan, who spent years racing as a professional cyclist before turning his focus to competitive running, says the brand grew out of small, everyday frustrations rather than a grand plan. “Most of the design choices came from things that have annoyed me over the years: kit that rides up, rubs, traps heat or gives you one more thing to think about when you’re already working hard. I wanted to fix that for runners here before anyone else.”

Rather than launching with a single hero product, EDRA has built DROP 1 – a full system for summer running, race day through to everyday training, following multiple rounds of sampling and testing by elite runners to perfect every individual item. The debut collection includes:

  • Unisex Cotton Tee
  • FLOATLITE Race-Ready Singlet
  • CHANNEL Running Tee
  • FLOATLITE Run Sock
  • CHANNEL Pinch Top Cap
  • FLOATLITE Split Shorts
  • CONVEY with FLOATLITE Half Tight

The collection’s signature piece is the FLOATLITE Half Tight, built around EDRA’s CONVEY carrying system to combine race-ready performance with serious carrying capacity from multiple gels to your phone and keys, the ultimate marathon and long-run companion.

The collection also follows a range architecture:

  • FLOATLITE – Race-ready range, highest lightweight tech.
  • CHANNEL – Core sports range, wicking, lightweight sports capability with a more durable weight structure.
  • CONVEY – Items with carrying capacity right at the core.

Pricing runs from £15 to £75, a deliberate choice: “Good running brands should inspire people to run and take part, not make them feel like they’re on the outside looking in,” said Nathan.

EDRA’s site is live nationwide now, but its real focus over the coming months is building roots with Leeds run clubs and races, with a wider national push planned for 2027.
