Manchester-based logistics tech firm, DeliveryApp, is rebranding as Zippd.
Co-founder, Gemma Taylor explained that it was “more than a name change” instead it was about reflecting how the industry had changed:
“… it reflects how we are evolving with the changing landscape of ecommerce and logistics. New-age marketplaces are transforming the commerce landscape, but infrastructure hasn’t kept up.
“Zippd connects the pieces, bringing together technology, network and operational expertise, delivering a new approach to fulfilment that gives brands more control and flexibility than ever before.”
The Rio Ferdinand-backed company said it had expanded by 186% in the last 3 years, without adding fleets or warehouses. Instead it had grown by connected existing infrastructure into a single, coordinated network.
Zippd stated that traditional models, “reliant on expanding assets” were struggling to keep pace with the speed, flexibility and scale required by modern commerce models – fragmented supply chains, delivery expectations and online marketplaces with dispersed seller networks.
In comparison, Zippd connects brands to a global network of logistics providers, which is claims can reduce marketplace lead times and costs “by up to 40%”.
It currently works with brands including THG, Next and Wren Kitchens.
