NABS is teeing up a summer of networking and fundraising in the North, with two major golf events set to bring together professionals from across advertising, marketing and media.
The industry charity, which supports mental wellness across the sector, is hosting its inaugural North West Golf Open this month, followed by its North East Golf Open in June. Both are designed to combine relaxed competition with meaningful connection.
A first for the North West
Kicking things off is the Manchester Golf Open (North West Golf Open), taking place on 28 April at Sale Golf Club.
The event marks the first time NABS has brought a dedicated golf day to the North West, offering a two-ball Stableford competition that balances friendly rivalry with a social, accessible atmosphere.
Open to all skill levels, the day is designed as much for networking as it is for golf, with agency teams, media owners and brands encouraged to bring colleagues or clients along.
For those new to the sport, a “Get into Golf” option includes a 90-minute coaching session followed by time on the course, ensuring the event remains inclusive to beginners as well as experienced players.
Heading to the North East
The series continues on 16 June with the North East Golf Open at Close House Golf Club.
Set in the Tyne Valley, the venue offers two championship-standard parkland courses, providing a scenic backdrop for a full day of golf and industry connection.
Like its North West counterpart, the event features a two-ball Stableford format alongside a beginner-friendly pathway, including coaching, practice time and a shortened course experience.
Participants can expect a programme that blends networking, competition and hospitality, from breakfast through to a post-play lunch and prize-giving.
More than just a day on the course
While both events offer a strong social and networking draw, their wider purpose is central to NABS’ mission.
As an independent charity, NABS exists to support people working across advertising, media and marketing, providing everything from career guidance to financial support and mental health services.
Funds raised through events like the Golf Open series help sustain that work, with the organisation supporting thousands of people across the industry each year.
As NABS continues to expand its regional footprint, these events aim to strengthen networks while reinforcing the importance of mental wellbeing across the industry.
