Greggs appoints Customer and Marketing Director from On The Beach

Zoe Harris, the CMO and Executive Director of On the Beach is to join Greggs next month.

She’ll become Customer and Marketing Director at the North East brand. It follows Hannah Squirrell’s decision to retire, following almost 10 years in the role.

“You heard it here first (well, you probably didn’t — I’ve been slow to post): I’ll be hanging up my towel and leaving On the Beach to join Greggs in May,” said Harris.

“Incredibly grateful for the chapter I’ve had, and super excited for the one ahead. Two brilliant brands, businesses & teams.”

Harris has been CMO at Manchester-based On The Beach for more than 5 years. She was previously CMO of GoCompare and Group Marketing Director at Trinity Mirror Group (now Reach).

At Greggs, she’ll be be responsible for brand, marketing, insight, social strategy, as well as customer experience.

Last month Greggs released its preliminary results, revealing that its profits had been hit by a challenging food-to-go market. Sales had risen 6.8% to £2.2bn and last year it increased its store portfolio to 2739 – up 121 on the previous year.

However, pre-tax profits were down 9.4% to £171.9m, which it said were down to reduced customer spending.

“Greggs delivered a resilient performance in 2025, growing market share, alongside continued strategic progress,” Chief Executive, Roisin Currie said at the time.

“Looking into 2026, easing inflationary pressures should provide some support to consumer spending and demand for convenient food-on-the-go continues to underpin the market.

“We remain focused on broadening access to Greggs with a strong pipeline of shop openings, exciting launches and deeper customer engagement via the Greggs App.”
