Channel 4 has opened up a further three commissioning roles in the North and Scotland following the recent appointments of Dave Donald (Glasgow) and Coral Lawson (Leeds) as junior commissioning editors at the broadcaster.
A third junior commissioning editor, Rachel Kinley, will also be joining C4’s team outside the capital in a junior commissioning editor in Bristol.
The three new openings, announced today, are for a junior commissioning editor, reality & entertainment, in Leeds, Glasgow or Manchester; a junior commissioning editor, drama in Leeds, and a junior digital commissioning executive in Leeds or Glasgow.
Like their predecessors, the latest openings are part of Channel 4’s wider strategy to support creative careers, empower regional indies, and build long-term resilience within the production sector across the UK.
The schemes – the Junior Commissioning Editor Programme and Business Boost – are run and funded by Channel 4’s development and training programme, 4Skills. The programmes form key parts of the broadcaster’s ongoing strategy to champion creativity, inclusion, and opportunity throughout the UK’s Nations and Regions.

Sinead Rocks, Channel 4’s managing director, nations and regions, said at the time of the original Northern appointments: “These appointments are a meaningful investment in regional creative leadership. They reflect our belief that great commissioning talent exists all across the UK – and that we must do more to find, develop and empower it. Coupled with our Business Boost programme, we are laying the groundwork for a more sustainable, resilient and regionally representative broadcast sector.”
Turning to the new openings, Channel 4 said: “The role is designed to provide individuals with hands-on, real-world experience in editorial and commissioning within the Reality and Entertainment sector. As a Junior Commissioning Editor, you will be mentored and guided by a Senior Commissioning Editor, providing you with a well-rounded understanding of the commissioning process, from content development to final delivery. This role will help you build the skills and knowledge necessary to progress in a commissioning career while contributing to Channel 4’s Reality and Entertainment programming.”
The role is suitable for senior members of the production and freelance community, who must be based within a commutable distance to the C4 hub office where the role is mapped (Glasgow, Leeds or Manchester) and have three to six years’ experience, with recent credits to be at a minimum series producer level.
