BBC star accused of rape and sexual offences against four women

A well-known soap actor has been accused of a series of sexual and violent offences involving four women.

Iain Robertson, best known for playing Stevie O’Hara in the BBC Scotland drama River City, faces eight charges spanning 16 years. The 44-year-old is accused of rape, assault, and abusive behaviour, including claims he was controlling and manipulative toward one of the women.

Prosecutors allege that the rape took place at addresses in Glasgow’s west end and south side between 2018 and 2019.

The case also includes claims that he poured wine over a woman during an abusive incident and sent unwanted gifts to another and used physical violence. It’s also alleged that he dragged a woman by the hair and isolated her from her family and showed aggressive and threatening behaviour over several years.

Robertson, who denies all charges, found early fame in cult Glasgow film Small Faces before joining River City in 2017. He’s also appeared in shows such as Rab C Nesbitt, Grange Hill, and the hiking documentary Iain Robertson Rambles.

The case is due to go to trial at the High Court in Glasgow in June 2026, after a hearing before Lord Arthurson.
