Immersive tech firm Holovis opens new innovation hub in Southport

Award-winning immersive technology company Holovis has announced the opening of a new office and innovation centre in Southport, marking a return to the North West for the global experience design firm.

The new base will be located at Southport’s recently refurbished Enterprise Arcade on Eastbank Street, a £1.5m digital and creative hub developed by Sefton Council to support the region’s growing tech and creative economy.

Holovis, which has previously worked with major names including Universal Studios, Netflix, Disney, and Jaguar Land Rover, specialises in complex AV, interactive installations, and immersive experiences for the entertainment, enterprise, and meditech sectors. The company has offices in the UK, US, Middle East, and China, with its headquarters in Hinckley.

CEO Stuart Hetherington said the move represents a long-standing connection to the region and a commitment to future growth.

“We’re absolutely delighted to be moving back into the region to support local projects with our unique capabilities and solutions,” he said. “With so much investment and regeneration taking place, this is the perfect time for us to also invest in the region and make this move.”

Holovis has historical ties to the North West, having previously supported early regeneration efforts with large-scale AV projects. Its latest presence in Southport will be led by Alex Kunawicz, a veteran of the immersive tech industry in Manchester and Liverpool. He introduced the new venture to local leaders at the recent Invest Sefton “Sefton Huddle” business event.

The move has been welcomed by Sefton Council and local stakeholders.

“The Holovis move to Southport is a great signal of the emerging eco-system of talent, capability and opportunity in the region,” said Jon Corner, Sector Specialist at Sefton Council.

Council Leader Cllr Marion Atkinson added: “This is a testament to our ongoing commitment to revitalise and energise the economy of Southport and Sefton, as well as grow our local Creative and Digital sectors.”

Holovis’ recent work includes a high-profile “Squid Game” experience for Netflix.
