Scottish radio DJ Lynne Hoggan has been rushed to hospital and undergone emergency surgery after a “sizeable bleed” in her brain caused by two aneurysms.
Hoggan, best known for her shows on Scottish stations such as Clyde 1, Forth 1, Tay FM, Northsound 1 and MFR, has been left “unable to communicate properly” after the emergency surgery.
A statement on her Instagram posted by her sister-in-law read: “A little life update – from Lynne’s sister-in-law Rachel (as instructed by Lynne herself).
“Appreciate a lot of you have been messaging Lynne and wondering where she has been lately.
“Unfortunately, a week ago, she took unwell and it turned out to be a sizeable bleed on the brain which was 2 aneurysms.
“She has now had surgery and stents put in her brain and is recovering in the best care possible.
“Lynne still has a long way to go and will be in hospital for a while and is unable to communicate properly at the moment whilst she is recovering.
“She appreciates all the love and support and will be in touch with all the individuals who have reached out to her once she is better.
“If anyone needs anything or wants me to pass anything on to Lynne, please just get in touch.”

Friends and fans among her 11,500 Instagram followers were quick to show their support to the popular radio host, including her former Pure Radio colleague, DJ Robin Galloway, who wrote: “Shocked to hear this news. Radio and life needs Lynne Hoggan on it and in it.”
Hoggan began her career on the airwaves in 1999 in Dundee and previously featured on Wave FM and Pure Radio before she moved to Bauer Media channel Tay FM. She has also served as a regular columnist for the Dundee Evening Telegraph and hosted the Sex Rated podcast in 2019, taking on hosting duties alongside the wife of former Celtic footballer Kris Commons, Lisa Hague. The podcast focussed on all things sex-related and promised “real women” talking “real sex,” although it has thus far not returned for a second series.
