Record-breaking producer and household name Pete Waterman MBE visited Cheshire’s MIX 56 this week for a chat that airs on the station this Saturday, September 7, at 10am.
‘Trains and Tunes’ is a two-hour special which focuses on Pete’s career, the artists he discovered and nurtured, and how The Hit Factory just kept churning out those hits. Waterman talks about his early days as a DJ, meeting Mike and Matt (Stock and Aitken, the other two thirds of Stock, Aitken and Waterman, one of the most successful songwriting and production partnerships ever) and working with the likes of Kylie, Rick Astley, Bananarama and Donner Summer.
Mix 56 presenter Paul Smith chatted to him about the music business and also, of course, his love of railways and steam engines.
Smith said: “I can’t wait to share our chat. What an amazing man. We spoke for over 3 hours and Pete also reveals his favourite songs and which artists inspired his career. He is still as busy as ever working on a new Steps musical and a new series for Netflix teaming up with his old friend Simon Cowell in search of the next new boyband. It’s a nostalgic look back and some of the stories are just fantastic”
After broadcasting on Cheshire’s MIX 56 this Saturday, Trains and Tunes will then be available as a listen again for 30 days. Listen online at mix56.co.uk , Smart Speaker, App and DAB.
