North Wales Daily Post editor Mark Thomas has assumed responsibility for four more Trinity Mirror titles after the departure of executive editor Linda Roberts.

Roberts’ role as editor of the North Wales Weekly News, Caernarfon & Denbigh Herald, Holyhead and Anglesey Mail and Bangor Mail ceased to exist following the introduction of the digital-first ‘Newsroom 3.1′ initiative, so she opted to take redundancy.

Thomas, the former Liverpool Daily Post editor who took over in North Wales earlier this year, has now assumed editorial responsility for all four titles in addition to his existing role.

A Trinity Mirror spokesman said: “Linda’s role was no longer required due to the recent newsroom 3.1 restructure rolling out across Trinity Mirror’s regional titles.

“Linda chose to take redundancy and leaves with our very best wishes.”

In October, the NUJ claimed that the introduction of Newsroom 3.1 to Trinity’s Merseyside titles would see the loss of seven jobs.
