Former Granada Reports and Piccadilly Radio stalwart Trevor Green has passed away following a brief illness.
Quoting Green’s wife Joanna on Facebook last night, Piccadilly Radio posted: “Trevor slipped away peacefully this morning in the early hours of what is today his 74th Birthday. He developed breathing probs last evening.
“I’ve lost my soul mate and feel rather at sea. But thankfully he’s now out of pain and we’ve been blessed with lots of time in recent weeks and months to reminisce and shape his wishes. Sorry we couldn’t fix another visit…Taking quiet me-time out today to reflect on our 44 years together.
Will miss him like mad. Let u know plans in due course.”

Green’s former Piccadilly colleague Chris Moore added: “Trevor and Jo fought his illness together in a way which I can only describe as humbling. I would not be able to come anywhere close. He was one of the nicest, kindest, sharpest, wittiest, coolest and most professional people I ever had the honour to work, and that’s saying something.
“His marriage to Jo was something special too. She is a wonderful person who gave him everything for their whole life together. A David Vear signing, he was part of a golden generation in a golden era of radio. Those who knew him will have their own stories and memories. Suffice to say, we’ve list another gem….God speed my friend.”
Many familiar figures and colleagues from across the North West media scene also took to social media to pay their respects to Green, who was based in Knutsford and spent almost 20 years as a fixture on regional TV news flagship Granada Reports. He left Granada Reports in 2006 to focus on running his own Vision Impact media consultancy alongside his TV and radio work, and spent several years serving as a media relations officer for his local Cheshire East Council:
My first appearance on television was about age 7 when Granada Reports came to Year 3 to interview us about road safety. Saddened to hear that the interviewer, Trevor Green, has passed. One of those special stalwarts of regional news who mixed serious and light seamlessly.
