Terri Dwyer’s production company has released a new trailer for its film, Bolan’s Shoes.

Set in Liverpool, it draws inspiration from the iconic 1970s glam-rock band, T.Rex and specifically their 1976 concert in Manchester.

It features 2 “over-excited kids” from a local children’s home, but a devastating road accident changes their lives for ever. Years later, survivor, Penny, takes her best friend and fellow Marc Bolan fan to London to visit his shrine. But a chance encounter takes her back to the accident.

It’s described as an inspirational story that explores the enduring legacy of childhood trauma and the life-affirming power of music.

“I was deeply moved by the effects a childhood tragedy had on our two leading characters, the themes of childhood bullying is something I could really relate to,” said Terri Dwyer, Co-Chief Executive Officer at Buffalo Dragon.

“The narrative has such heart and against the backdrop of a glam rock Liverpool, I knew it could be very cinematic and a joy to watch it unfold.”

Produced by Terri Dwyer (Hollyoaks, The Stranger in our Bed) and Dean Fisher, the cast includes Timothy Spall (Secrets and Lies, Harry Potter Franchise), Leanne Best (The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death, A Town Called Malice), Mark Lewis Jones (The Crown, Gangs of London) and Mathew Horne (Gavin and Stacey, Bad Education).

It’s been written and directed by Ian Puleston-Davies (Silent Witness, Marcella).

Liverpool-based Buffalo Dragon produced the movie, in association with Munro Film.

It’s slated for cinematic release on 15th September.
