Tech-led renewables firm relocates to Daresbury

Avian Ecology, a leading ecological consultancy specialising in the renewables sector, is SciTech Daresbury’s latest tenant after opening its new HQ at Sci-Tech Daresbury, bringing 28 employees to the growing campus community from its former Warrington base.

Located in the Liverpool City Region, Sci-Tech Daresbury is the home of pioneering science, technology and business, and Avian Ecology joins a community of over 160 businesses. The business has taken over 2,000 square feet of floorspace in Techspace Two, a two-storey grade-A office building on the campus offering a high quality workspace in a thriving, collaborative environment.

Joe Whittick, technical director Avian Ecology, said: “Relocating our head office to Sci-Tech Daresbury marks an exciting new chapter for Avian Ecology and our growing team. We’ve seen rapid growth recently and with our team increasing by 20% over the year, now is the right time to move into this new, high-quality workspace.”

He added: “We’ve chosen the Sci-Tech Daresbury campus for several reasons, including its extensive opportunities to collaborate with other experts in our field. Cross-collaboration will be invaluable as we enhance our nationwide services to deliver leading sustainable solutions, and particularly within the renewables sector. It’s fantastic to be here, and we’re very much looking forward to embedding ourselves in the daily working life on campus.”

Founded in 2007, Avian Ecology’s UK-wide environmental consultancy expertise and services span several areas including ecological survey, impact assessment, mitigation and monitoring. The business has built a particular reputation for its support of major renewable energy schemes, including wind and solar farm developments.

Avian Ecology’s parent company, Origin Enterprises, is a leading agri-services group that delivers tech-led solutions to farmers, driving sustainable and productive agriculture. The group operates through 27 companies across two continents.

John Leake, business growth director at Sci-Tech Daresbury, said: “Avian Ecology is now the third company under its parent organisation, Origin Enterprises, to become part of Sci-Tech Daresbury’s high-tech community. They join sibling organisations Bowland Ecology and Brooks Ecological who already have a presence on campus.

“We have a strong ambition to nurture and integrate organisations that are shaping a cleaner, more sustainable future, which is why it’s an absolute pleasure to welcome Avian Ecology’s team as part of a greater presence on site for Origin Enterprises. Having their HQ based here is another signal of strong investor confidence in our growing campus and we’re delighted to have them on board.”
