Reach has revealed new online homes for historic titles, Southport Visiter and The Journal.
This morning, the publisher launched registration pages for both sites, as it “gathers interest” for hyperlocal newsletters.
“I’m really excited about this new stage in our approach to hyper-local and community-driven news. The Southport Visiter and The Journal are two very different brands, but they’ve both served their communities since the 1800s with a clear sense of identity and purpose,” explained Paul Rowland, Editorial Director (News).
“We’re now setting these brands up for the future by re-imagining them as subscription-based newsletters, bringing that same voice and values to readers, but in a format that’s set up for busy 21st century lives. They’ll be authentic, local, useful, personality-led, and built on a legacy of trust from nearly 200 years of serving the community.”
The Journal has provided news to the North East since 1832 and, editor Graeme Whitfield, said that the newsletter would be “the definitive voice of the region, curated with authority, sharp opinion, and a sense of pride in place.”
It will be delivered 6 days a week.
Ben Haslam will edit the Visiter newsletter – the title is slightly younger than its North East sister brand, dating from 1844.
