Solution Performance Group rescues 20 jobs at in-administration Boxmodel

SPG CEO Gareth Humphreys

A Newcastle-based software team has been rescued from administration by Solution Performance Group (SPG) in a move that will safeguard 20 jobs in the region.

Boxmodel Digital Media Limited (Boxmodel) fell into administration in May 2023 with debts of almost £750,000, and SPG was able to offer employment to 20 of the development company’s employees – Boxmodel’s most recent accounts, to March 2022 showed that the company had a total of 27 employees.

The move boosts SPG’s team to 70 and supports its growth plans, and the larger team will be better placed to meet the growing demand for digital transformation across the public and private sectors.

Boxmodel counted Airbus Defence and Space, Renault and Rentokil as customers. Founded in 2009, it provided end-to-end software engineering services.

Alan Easton, former MD of Boxmodel, said: “I am delighted to be joining the SPG team. They have a great customer base and ambitious plans to grow the business in the coming years, and I’m confident our former highly experienced team will prove a great asset and support future growth.”

SPG is an ecosystem of digital transformation, resourcing and software subsidiaries that work across the public and private sectors to deliver optimised technology solutions, highly efficient processes and empowered, successful teams. Its clients include the emergency services, government departments and social housing organisations.

Gareth Humphreys, group CEO at SPG, said: “We’re really happy to be welcoming the former staff of Boxmodel to the Group. They bring great talent and expertise to our growing team as we expand the range of services and products we deliver across the UK.”

SPG is based in The Core at the heart of Newcastle’s Helix innovation district.
