Smart Outdoor makes “strategic investment” in commercial radio

Smart Outdoor has taken a stake in North East commercial radio station, Frisk Radio.

The Out of Home operator said the partnership would herald “a new era of collaboration” and “revolutionise the advertising landscape.”

“Frisk’s team demonstrated an incredibly efficient, and scalable approach to radio broadcasting and station management,” explained Mark Catterall, CEO of Smart Outdoor Media.

“This acquisition will allow Smart Outdoor Media to evolve into a multi-channel agency, capable of delivering campaigns with both audio and visual elements, and maximizing ROI for advertisers.”

Frisk specialises in dance and pop music, with an audience of mainly 25-45 year olds. The deal means that it will have access to a network of more than 350 digital billboard screens to amplify its reach.

“We’ve spent 2 years building the Frisk brand. Our existing listeners love the product, but our biggest challenge has been breaking through to new audiences. Having access to Smart Media’s screen network will put our name in front of tens of thousands of adults every single day, on key commuter routes around the region,” added Frisk’s Radio’s Director, Stuart Landreth.
