North East OOH group targets expansion with senior hire


Smart Media Group has recruited a Commercial Director, as it looks to grow its out of home advertising network.

Julian Carter joins in the new role and will be responsible for expanding its Smart Digital Network,

This is made up of 50 large format digital screens in the North of England, as well as 250 digital screens nationwide, which are jointly operated by Smart Outdoor, Inkspot Wi-Fi and Hill House Investment Group.

Carter was previously Regional Sales Director for the North and North West at Reach and has also had senior roles at Global Outdoor, Exterion Outdoor, UTV and Ten Alps.

“I’m delighted to be involved in this tri-partnership as it continues its rapid digital expansion across the UK, with significant national roll out coming over hundreds of locations.  Across the SDN, we already have 300 full motion screens across road, retail and convenience locations,” said Carter.

He joins as the group outlines plans to become a top three UK digital out of home business.
