SEO index to rate universities’ digital performance

Universities can now rate their online performance, with a new SEO Index.

The data has been compiled by North Yorkshire agency, Iff Digital, which said it was inspired by higher education institutions wanting to know how they performed against their peers.

“After working with a number of institutions, we recognised that the education sector was behind the curve in SEO,” explained Adam Preston, Head of SEO at Iff Digital.

“This index will help universities benchmark themselves against their peers and catch up to the level of other leading industries.”

The Iff SEO Education Index features more than 148 universities, and each one has been scored against a total set of 25 weighted criteria, covering experience, brand and reputation. These data points have then been combined to create the league table.

The Open University comes out on top of the table, with the first “Northern” one being York, at number 6.
