Wrexham AFC owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have teamed up with Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson on a comical promo for the two sides’ forthcoming summer friendly in the US.

The Premier League side will take on the National League promotion hopefuls in a friendly at California’s Snapdragon Stadium on July 25 as the Hollywood owners continue to use their influence to grow Wrexham’s international stature.

In the clip, the Hollywood pair are preparing for a video call with former United manager Ferguson, and they’re clearly hyped for the moment – referring to the multi-trophy-winning manager as the “greatest football manager of all time” and a “master intimidator.”

The call begins, but all Reynolds and McElhenney can elicit from Ferguson is silence, accompanied by a steely glare.

The pair keep trying with their friendly banter, but still Ferguson is unmoved until, intimidated by Ferguson’s “mind games,” Deadpool star Reynold’s makes up an excuse that his partner has a crucial hair appointment and hangs up on the Scotsman.

As Reynolds and McEllhenney discuss the “terrifying” ordeal, we switch back to Ferguson’s office where the United boss drops the punchline – the pair were on mute all along, and he hasn’t heard a word they’ve said.
