The Yorkshire Evening Post is dedicating a page to the aspiring young journalists, in a new initiative alongside Leeds City Council.

The Child Friendly Leeds page will be written entirely by school children from the city.

This will include comment on breaking news stories as well as special assignments about what life is like in Leeds for younger people.

“We want to help youngsters to have their voices heard. Their opinions should be valued and listened to,” explained editor, Jeremy Clifford.

“You are the future of Leeds and we want to give you a platform to tell those people who hold influence in our city how you would like to see it develop.”

Schools will be asked to nominate pupils to join the Children’s Panel so they can get involved.

The aim is to improve the lives of young people in Leeds.
