Pastest “milestone” as it acquires medical finance platform

Manchester’s Pastest has acquired Medics’ Money as it seeks to cements its position as one of the region’s “most established health-tech businesses.”

Medics’ Money is a financial education platform founded by Dr Tommy Perkins and Dr Ed Cantelo to help healthcare professionals make better financial decisions through educational content, courses and access to specialist advisors.

“Over the last eight years since we founded Medics Money, we’ve helped thousands of doctors make better financial decisions,” said Dr Tommy Perkins, Co-Founder of Medics’ Money.

“We wanted to help doctors improve their financial wellbeing and make better decisions about their futures.

“Joining Pastest allows us to continue that mission and help even more healthcare professionals.”

A spokesperson for the Campbell family, which owns Pastest, explained that the strategic acquisition was to support healthcare professionals from exam preparation through decision-making at every stage of their career.

“”Pastest started as a family business in 1972. It remains a family business. “At the heart of Pastest has always been the desire to improve the life of a doctor.

“If we can be a small but positive part of that journey, then doctors, patients and society at large will be in a better place.”

Pastest has grown from purely being a medical publishing company into a healthcare education provider supporting approximately 50,000 healthcare professionals each year.

“Three of the most stressful areas in doctors’ lives are passing exams, getting a job and managing their finances,” continued the spokesperson.

“Our vision is to provide support across all three of these areas. At first glance, exam prep and financial education might seem like separate worlds. But when you look at the real life of a doctor, they’re very closely connected.”

Over the last few years, the company has set up The Medic Life for aspiring medical students and launched Pastest Labs for entrepreneurial healthcare professionals to develop new ideas.
