Orillo creates stylish launch film for Ownic digital sports collectibles

York’s Orillo Films has teamed up with collectible digital cards platform to create a stylish launch film for its latest range.

Orillo worked with BoldSpace to bring to life this hero campaign for Ownic, creating a full 3D world which which felt grounded in reality.

Orillo decided to go down the photo realistic route for the challenge. It cast three hero characters representing Football and MMA, as these were Ownic’s main sports to focus on. Using FBFX in London for the 3D scans, Orillo captured each player as they would appear on the card. To ensure the best detail they scanned the clothing separately, then started on the long task of cleaning up each image.

Director & VFX artists Dan Lofthouse then took the cleaned up scans and starting adding texturing and lighting to each scene. Once the VFX world was created the final scenes could be filmed, where our hero character breaks out of the statue. For this a local football club’s ground was used along with some SFX to make the transition believable.

Keenan Foley, producer on the project, said: “For us this was a dream project, combining a VFX world and real world is something the team really love to do. Having an exciting brand like Ownics behind it meant we could really push it further as we knew the audience would appreciate the detail.”
