Ocean Outdoor Group has announced senior leadership changes as it continues to target growth into European markets.
The Out of Home (OOH) advertising specialist is targeting growth across seven European markets and changes are made with that in mind. In the UK, Nick Shaw, currently Chief Commercial Officer UK, is promoted to UK CEO. He replaces Phil Hall who is promoted to Group Chief Operating Officer.
Shaw originally joined Ocean UK as Agency Sales Director in 2010, becoming Sales Director in 2015, Chief Revenue Officer in 2017 and Chief Commercial Officer in January 2025. Hall joined Ocean UK as Joint Managing Director in 2019, becoming CEO in 2023 and Group Chief Commercial Officer in January 2025, a position he has held alongside his UK CEO role.
CEO Stephen Joseph said: “Both Nick and Phil are central to Ocean’s success. Nick’s promotion reflects his commitment in building a sales division which consistently drives organic growth across the UK business. Moving forward, Phil will be able to focus full time on his new Group role overseeing operations, building on commercial relationships across all markets and delivering on our strategic goals.”
Ocean Outdoor Group CEO Stephen Joseph has announced two key appointments in the UK and Group leadership teams as the company drives growth across seven European markets.
The changes are effective from 1st January 2026 and follow similar leadership changes last year.
Last month, Ocean was awarded a new 10-year contract with Manchester City Council to handle its OOH advertising with an option for a further five years. The two have already been working together for 15 years.
In April, the company was awarded the contract to manage the Bradford Media Wall on the newly restored Bradford Live venue. It also operates Media Walls in Edinburgh, Liverpool and Birmingham which form part of The Grid network, delivering more than 10m impacts a fortnight. This was its first DOOH screen in West Yorkshire.
Reacting to the announcement, Hall said: “Ocean is a business with a clear vision, great landlord and buy-side partners and a fantastic team. It’s a privilege to become Group COO for what I believe is an exciting growth phase across current and new markets.”
Shaw added: “Ocean is a very different business to the one I joined nearly 16 years ago. More premium locations, award winning creative work, industry leading tech and data and new opportunities for audiences to interact and brands to build fame from OOH experiences. We have some exciting developments in the pipeline for 2026 and as CEO I look forward to taking the UK business forward into the next stage of its evolution.”
