Creative studio The Midnight Club, which recently made its Northern debut with the opening of a new studio in Leeds, has appointed Emily Mitchell to the new role of managing director.
Mitchell joined The Midnight Club, the 360 creative studio from MIDNIGHTTM Creative Group, last July as group brand director, helping to connect its strategic, creative, production, and creative technology offerings. As managing director, she will continue to work across the group, reporting to founder Ben Moutrie.
Prior to this, she spent 11 years at McCann London, where she was the global strategic lead across the Pernod Ricard portfolio of brands, Wimbledon Tennis Championships and others. She also championed the agency’s effectiveness agenda, and led McCann Worldgroup’s Global Luxury consultancy offering. Between 2018 and 2019 she spent 10 months working at McCann Tokyo across two secondments.
Mitchell is also the founder of Konker, an app aimed at new parents looking for stress-free family adventures, available on the app store and android. She developed and launched Konker while on her maternity leave herself.
The announcement of the new MD role marks a defining moment for the business, now with more than 120 people across Leeds, London, New York, Los Angeles, Portland and Amsterdam.
Alongside the appointment, the business has sharpened its structure to match its ambition, with a more streamlined, strategically led client leadership group set to work alongside an enhanced project leadership function, designed to deliver projects across the group at pace.
Founder Moutrie said: “Em’s promotion after just 10 months speaks for itself. We’ve been searching for our first MD for some time – her energy, entrepreneurial instinct and razor-sharp strategic mind made the decision easy. We’re proud to see her step into such a pivotal role and continue to push the company forward.”
Mitchell added: “After more than a decade in a global agency network, I wasn’t looking to do the same job in a different place. The Midnight Club had always been intriguing, visible through its work but not easily defined. The more time I spent with Ben and saw behind the curtain – the ambition, the thinking, the way the business operates in a completely unique way – the more I knew it was somewhere I wanted to be. It’s an incredibly exciting moment for The Midnight Club, and it’s a real privilege to step up as its first managing director and help shape that next chapter.”
This year marks a decade since Moutrie set up The Midnight Club as a 360-degree creative studio based in London. Since then it has expanded to include brand-building studio The Beginning, production and talent division ZERO and creative technology specialist Off-Piste. In late 2025, Midnight Creative Group gained B Corp status.
