Major Channel 4 order for True North

True North has received a bumper order from Channel 4 as it expands its Help! We Bought A Village franchise.

The Leeds indie will make 30 more episodes of the documentary, which follows Brits as they quit their jobs, sell up and take on the challenge of a lifetime.

It will be followed by spin-offs Help! We Bought A Jungle and Help! We Bought A Hotel.

The former will follow a couple who transform a patch of jungle in the Seychelles into the “ultimate dream home and business.” The 4-part series will follow their attempts to build a sustainable, off-grid oasis – battling against 40-degree heat, tropical storms, and power outages.

This is set to air in 2024, with a follow up in 2025.

Help! We Bought a Hotel will look at the development of hotel businesses across the UK and Europe, as couples buy, build, restore and transform incredible properties and attempt to turn them into thriving hotel businesses.

The 6-part series will air on More4 next year.

“This is fantastic news for everyone on the True North  team who’ve worked so hard to make a success of the Help! programmes so far.  It is also a huge vote of confidence from Channel 4 in both the Help! franchise and in regional production as we continue to showcase  more fantastic contributors following their dreams,” said Julie Beanland, Creative Director at True North.

Jayne Stanger, who commissioned the shows for Channel 4 added:

“We are delighted to have recommissioned True North to make a second series of the brilliant Help! I Bought A Village, and to have further expanded the franchise, capturing more incredible stories of people chasing their property renovation dreams.”
