Mabo Media aims to quadruple in size

Mabo Media has outlined plans to employ 100 people within 3 years.

The Middlesbrough-based digital marketing agency currently has 25 staff and says it’s on target for a £1.4m turnover in 2018-2019.

“I’ve seen a lot of firms struggle to cope with growth, especially in the digital sector, but it’s been very much a controlled growth for us – sensible and manageable,” explained managing director Lee Mableson, who formed the company in May 2013.

Mableson plans to increase staff levels to 40 this year.

“We’re big believers in promoting from within and giving current members of staff more responsibility, knowing they’re capable of doing the job with them already having already established themselves within the business, and this is proven with the recent promotions of Stephen Cumberworth to senior PPC account manager and Matthew Soakell to senior PPC trainer,” he continued.

“The PPC side of the business will continue to give us the growth we’ve seen over the last five years, and now we have key people in position to make sure that continues.”

Those internal promotions have also been reflected at board level, four new directors recruited from within. Rob Jackson has become director of operations; James Lees marketing director, Dean Yates technology director and Craig Griffiths sales director.

“All four who have been made directors had been made heads of departments last year, and this only reflects their contribution to the company,” explained Mableson.

“We have some significant growth plans. We expect to grow quite rapidly over the next two-to-three years, and people needed to be assigned responsibilities to take us forward and prepare us for a big push. We’re putting more fuel on the fire.”
