Lockheed Martin Space UK is to work on cutting-edge space research and innovation in the North East.
The group has signed a Master Research Agreement with Northumbria University, which builds on its previously announced £15m investment in the North East Space Skills and Technology Centre (NESST).
The agreement will establish a structure where both organisations will develop and execute research initiatives and align future work with the equipment, facilities and capabilities that will be available through NESST.
NESST is expected to open later this year and go fully live early in 2027, it will play a key role in advancing space innovation, developing specialist skills and supporting the growth of the UK’s space sector.
