Leeds tech consultancy appoints new strategy and growth lead

Burendo, an award-winning, Leeds-headquartered technology consultancy has appointed Richard Brown to lead the company’s strategic growth initiatives and drive expansion into new markets.

Burendo’s new head of business development brings 30 years of experience in the field, building and leading high-performing teams. Throughout his career, he has driven revenue growth and forged strategic partnerships across multiple countries and a wide range of sectors including financial services, public sector, higher education, retail, and energy.

Prior to joining Burendo, Brown held senior commercial roles at leading tech consultancies, including Illinois-HQ’d Ensono and Edinburgh’s Qurum Network Resources, spanning the US and UK markets, where he was instrumental in scaling operations and securing major enterprise contracts on both sides of the Atlantic.

In his new role, he will be responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and driving Burendo’s expansion strategy as the consultancy continues its ambitious growth plan.

“We’re thrilled to bring Richard on board as we accelerate our growth ambitions,” said Glenn Crossley, founder of Burendo. “His 30 years of experience speaks for itself, but what really stood out was his strategic mindset and ability to forge genuine, long-term partnerships. As we continue investing in top-tier talent and expanding our capabilities, Richard will play a crucial role in ensuring our growth is both ambitious and sustainable.”

Brown added: “I’m delighted to be joining Burendo at this exciting stage of their growth. The capability, track record and the quality of the team is truly impressive and I look forward to being part of the exciting way forward for Burendo.”

Founded in Leeds in 2018 and now with offices in Leeds and London, Burendo describes its team as “pragmatic thinkers and doers who understand the operational world of organisations and customer demands.” The company’s Kathryn Dale was nominated as a tech rising star at the 2025 Prolific North Tech Awards.
