Wescom Group has expanded its presence in the defence market by acquiring chemical detection technology firm, KeTech Defence.
KeTech Defence is part of the Preston and Nottingham-based KeTech Group.
“I’m delighted to announce that today KeTech Defence Ltd UK joins Wescom Group,” said Wescom Group Chief Executive Officer, Ross Wilkinson.
“KDL’s expertise in detection technologies enhances our current critical survival capabilities. We are excited to work with the management team in growing the business both organically and geographically.”
It means the exit of YFM Equity Partners, which first invested in the company in 2015. YFM will retain its shareholding in KeTech Systems, a specialist provider of real- time intelligent software systems for the rail industry.
“YFM has been instrumental in the success stories of both KeTech Defence and KeTech Systems,” said CEO Denise Lawrenson from KeTech Group.
“The YFM team has helped to secure an exciting future for KeTech Defence, which will go on to prosper under Wescom Group ownership. We now look forward to pursuing further growth plans for KeTech both in the U.K. and overseas with YFM’s backing and support. We are excited that we now have the opportunity to concentrate on building the Rail business and expanding our portfolio further, working with operators and train builders alike to deliver exciting innovative and reliable systems across the globe. “
KDL’s Tony Shaw said of the acquisition:
“Thanks to our shared defence focus and combined market knowledge, this is an incredible opportunity to accelerate the company’s growth into new markets by leveraging Wescom Group’s extensive defence sales resource and distribution network.”
