The BBC has released new images ahead of the new series of Gentleman Jack.

Filmed in Yorkshire by Lookout Point for BBC One and co-produced by HBO, it will see Suranne Jones return as Anne Lister.

Sally Wainwright has used the real-life diaries of Anne Lister as the source of the 8 new episodes. The journals, all written in code, turn to 1834 as Lister sets up home with her new wife Ann Walker (Sophie Rundle).

It comes as Halifax is on the brink of revolution.

The Executive Producers are Sally Wainwright and Suranne Jones; Faith Penhale and Will Johnston for Lookout Point, and Ben Irving for BBC One.

The new series will be directed by Edward Hall, Amanda Brotchie and Fergus O’Brien. Phil Collinson is series producer, with Stella Merz as producer.
