Jordan Banjo and Dr Sara Kayat are fronting a broadcast pilot from Manchester-based Flying Saucer Television for Channel 4.

Lose Weight Like Me (working title) is the first commission for the Gobstopper-backed indie from the broadcaster.

The show will introduce 2 people who want to make a dramatic change to their lifestyle to four ‘health heroes’. These are members of the public who have each lost up to 200lbs on “safe and sustainable weight-loss plans.”

The 4 “heroes” are hidden behind pictures of how they used to look – and will only be revealed when the contestants choose them as their mentor.

After 8 weeks of following the new plan, they’ll share the results.

“This new format typifies the contemporary features programming we want Flying Saucer to be all about, with fresh talent bringing a totally new spin to a well-trodden lifestyle area,” said Chief Executive and Creative Director Kieran McCarthy.

McCarthy founded Gobstopper in 2015 and launched Flying Saucer as its  factual-focused sister company, following a management buy-out earlier this year from Keshet International.

“I’m delighted to welcome Jordan and Dr Sara to the Channel 4 Features Family. As someone who has made dramatic changes to his own health, we are thrilled to have Jordan Banjo at the helm of this pilot,” added Sean Doyle, Deputy Head of Features & Formats at Channel 4.
