‘Family newspaper’ Famileo appoints PHA Group to lead on UK press office activity

Family newsletter Famileo has appointed The PHA Group to build momentum for the brand and drive subscribers in the UK.

Famileo is a pioneering service that ensures the older generation can stay connected and keep up to date with family news, by creating and posting a hard copy of a family newsletter to less digitally savvy relatives.

Although digital apps have revolutionised the way we communicate, 40 per cent of people over the age of 75 years old are missing out because they do not use the internet (Age UK, 2022). Famileo allows family members to upload photos and messages online, which are formatted into a personalised newspaper that is printed and sent out to a relative weekly, or monthly.

After launching in France in 2015, the service saw a surge of interest during the pandemic, highlighting the importance of families and the mental health benefits of staying connected. With more than 200,000 families now using Famileo and great reviews from ex-pat families, the Famileo gazette is now making grandparents smile in more than 50 countries.

The PHA Group has been appointed by Famileo to lead its UK press office activity, driving brand fame and building momentum to support subscription sign-ups ahead of the key Christmas gifting period.

PHA’s activity will help to raise awareness of Famileo as leaders in bringing people closer together to foster meaningful connections, while sharing the unique success stories of those that use the service.

Nadine Callcutt at Famileo, said: “More than two million people over the age of 75 in England live alone, while more than a million older people say they go for over a month without speaking to a friend, neighbour or family member. We are on a mission to build a more connected society by bringing generations closer together, making it simple for families to share their news in just a few clicks.

“We were impressed by The PHA Group’s extensive purpose-driven campaign experience and their impressive media contacts, making them the perfect partners to share our brand message.”

Suzanne Haysler, director of consumer at The PHA Group, added: “We are committed to empowering businesses that actively contribute to maintaining, strengthening and protecting relationships. At a time when feelings of loneliness and isolation are increasingly prevalent in society, we are dedicated to supporting those who strive to connect people and create meaningful connections.

“Our press office activity will target key UK consumers that can make use of Famileo’s service to enrich bonds between family members – by facilitating communication and sharing cherished moments with loved ones.”
