As Jaywing enters a period of growth, we are looking to recruit in a variety of areas.

We have two roles available currently: Senior Strategist - Brand Communications; and Senior Media Planner.  Both are ideal roles for anyone looking to advance their careers at one of the largest marketing agencies outside of London.

Position Overview

As a Senior Strategist for content and comms at Jaywing, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing comprehensive communication strategies for our clients. You will collaborate closely with various teams including client services, creative, media, and digital to develop integrated communication plans that effectively meet our clients' objectives and drive measurable results.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the evolving media landscape, consumer behaviour, and emerging communication trends. They will be a strategic thinker, a creative problem solver, and an effective communicator who can lead client engagements and drive innovation in communication approaches.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning: Lead the development of communication strategies aligned with client objectives, target audience insights, and market trends using the agency model of Culture, Audience, Market & Brand. Translate client briefs into actionable communication plans that integrate traditional, digital, and social media channels.

Supporting Client Engagement: Serve as the strategic point of contact for clients, building strong relationships based on trust and delivering strategic counsel to support the agency ambition to be seen as a strategic partner to clients and not just a supplier. In partnership with Client Services collaborate with clients to understand their business goals, challenges, and opportunities, providing strategic guidance and recommendations.

Research and Insights: Conduct in-depth research to gather insights into target audiences, competitive landscape, industry trends, and relevant market data using the agency tools, in-house data science teams and external first party research partners. Utilise research findings to inform strategic decision-making and campaign optimisation.

Integrated Campaign Development: Work cross-functionally with internal teams to develop integrated communication campaigns that leverage the strengths of various channels and platforms. Ensure consistency in messaging and brand voice across all touchpoints.
Measurement and Optimisation: Work with channel teams to establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and measurement frameworks to track the effectiveness of communication initiatives. Analyse campaign performance data to identify areas for improvement and optimisation, providing actionable recommendations to enhance results.

Thought Leadership: Stay abreast of industry developments, emerging technologies, and best practices in communication strategy. Share insights and thought leadership internally and externally to contribute to the agency's reputation as a strategic partner. This may involve speaking publicly at events of behalf of Jaywing and contributing to the marketing teams output.

Workshops and Facilitation: Plan and facilitate client and internal workshops taking a leading role in stakeholder management and involvement and contribution of cross functional client teams.

Skills and Expertise

Strategic Thinking:  Ability to think critically, identify opportunities, and develop innovative communication strategies that drive business impact.

Communication Skills:  Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.

Presentation and delivery:  Confidence in pitching and presenting with the ability to think and respond to questioning and challenges to ideas and thinking.

Research and Analysis:  Proficiency in conducting qualitative and quantitative research, analysing data, and extracting actionable insights. Knowledge and experience of third party insight platforms such as YouGov, GWI, WARC etc. desirable.

Collaboration:  Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in cross-functional teams, fostering creativity, and driving consensus towards shared goals.

Digital Fluency:  Understanding of digital marketing channels, social media platforms, and digital analytics tools.
Personal Task Management: Effective organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Advertising, or related field with a strong academic understanding of brand and communication theory a bonus.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in communications strategy, preferably in an agency environment.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful communication campaigns across multiple channels and industries.
  • Proficiency in the usual office software such as Microsoft Office Suite, Google Analytics, and other relevant tools/software.
