“Disney meets musical Minions” Vistavenus valued at £4million

A Manchester-based entertainment company has secured £200k of angel investment from Photolink founder, David Walter.

It gives Vistavenus, a brand likened to “Disney meets musical Minions”, a pre-market valuation of more than £4m.

The founders of Vistavenus (VV) say they’ve been developing the operation for the last 7 years behind closed doors and are aiming to take on Disney and Marvel with their “groundbreaking alternative universe – with love at its core.”

VV is aimed at 15-25 year-olds and its world currently has 200 characters, with ready-made assets, including designs, bios, series & feature film scripts, gaming strategies and collectibles for ecommerce.

The fictional characters and storylines have been designed to “bridge the gap between fantasy and reality,” but as well as entertaining, they also raise awareness of real-life experiences.

Its new music show, Jammin’ Genres, stars an animated 48-piece covers band called ‘The Ventricles’, and has attracted over 2.5 million views with its first two episodes.

“We know that the pressures of life present challenges for us all and especially for younger people, they are even more intense than ever,” explained Mark Wools, Founder and Creative Director of Vistavenus.

“By specifically using entertainment mediums that resonate with 15-25 year olds, the VV universe is one that offers routes to positive change for its audience as they grow. It also raises awareness of social issues and contributes to the charities that support those experiencing them. We welcome those who want to join us on this journey through investing – after all, doing good is good business.”

As well as founding Photolink, Walter was CEO of Seventy7 and is currently Group CEO of Use.Space. He’s previously invested in Pockit and LittleBlackDress.

“When investing, I look for businesses that have a manifesto of ‘good’ as its foundation and that help society. I also look for individuals who have creative ambition in alternative sectors. Vistavenus ticks both those boxes – its vision and the people behind it – means that the journey moving forward is going to be really exciting,” he explained.

The cash will be used to fund market validation and a brand launch.
