The Educate North Awards are set to go virtual on April 22nd, celebrating the region’s university and higher education, FE and Sixth Form sectors and their talent.

Originally postponed to March 3rd 2021, they were formerly planned for April 2020 and will now take place online, giving attendees the chance to recognise success in their industry and celebrate their peers.

The ceremony will take place at 7:30pm on April 22nd, so attendees can join from wherever they’re based. See the shortlist here.

The Educate North Awards are organised by Carm Productions in conjunction with partners John Kennedy CBE, CCL Digital, the Masood Enterprise Centre, The Pilot Group, Communicorp UK, Heart Yorkshire, Smooth North West and Smooth North East.

It will continue to be hosted by Jim Hancock, former Political Editor of Granada TV and BBC North West. Hancock reported for North West Tonight as well as the regional segment of The Politics Show on BBC1 on Sundays.

Phil Harris, Emeritus Professor and Chair of the judging panel, said: “We hope this will be a bright light in a dark tunnel. We have tried and tried to hold-off to go live with the sell-out celebration but that is not possible, so instead we will reveal the winner of all categories including University Of The Year, Students Union Of The Year, Further Education College Of The Year, Entrepreneur Of The Year and more, with host Jim Hancock and special guests in April 2021.

“This is a great platform to show the country and the region the excellence and quality of this vital sector, even more vital at this difficult time.”

Ahead of the event, the University Entrepreneurs Grant will be released as part of the awards – the programme which invites students or graduates to pitch their business ideas for the chance to win a grant of £1,000, and mentoring from the Masood Enterprise Centre at the University of Manchester, the event’s patron.
