Alison Hastings, a former editor of the Newcastle Evening Chronicle, has been named on the board of Archant.
She takes up the non-executive director position on September 1st.
“This is a great appointment for Archant and I look forward to welcoming Alison to the company. She brings not only a wealth of experience within the industry, but has also worked closely with companies going through digital transformations, making her the perfect choice to join our Board at a time of significant change,” said Simon Bax, chairman, Archant.
Hastings, who lives in Liverpool, spent more than 18 years as a journalist and editor in the local press and was named editor of the Chronicle at the age of 29. She was a founding trustee of the BBC Trust and worked as a Press Complaints Commissioner.
“I am really excited to be joining the Board of a genuinely progressive local media company. The recent launch of The New European demonstrated Archant’s innovative approach – something I am looking forward to experiencing first hand,” she said.
