Aimee Lou Wood and David Morrissey reunite final series of Daddy Issues

Greater Manchester-based comedy, Daddy Issues, is returning to BBC Three for the final time.

The show was the channel’s biggest comedy launch since 2022 and is both filmed and set in Stockport.

Written by Danielle Ward (Brassic), it follows Gemma (Aimee Lou Wood) coming to terms with life as a mum, with support from her hapless father Malcolm (David Morrissey).

The final series starts with Gemma settled into a familiar rhythm, her baby, Sadie, is now in nursery, she’s been promoted at the salon and Malcolm has just ordered a “fancy new washing machine to optimise the laundry.”

But just as things get onto an even keel, a romantic encounter escalates into a whole heap of problems, and there’s only one person she can turn to – her dad.

“I’m so happy to be back with David and the brilliant Daddy Issues cast for one final time. Gemma and Malcolm are one of the funniest and sweetest comedy double acts on TV, and I’ve loved being a part of it,” said Aimee Lou Wood.

David Morrissey added:

“I love doing Daddy Issues so much, such a great cast and crew! So I’m delighted to be coming back to have more adventures with Gemma, Malcolm and the gang!”

The show is made by Fudge Park and series 2 was BBC Three’s top scripted title for 2025 (1.5m average views across 28 days).

“Danielle’s series three scripts are total firecrackers – acerbic but sweet, surreal but always relatable, dark round the edges but radiating with joy from the centre,” said Phil Gilbert, executive producer at Fudge Park.

“I can’t wait for Aimee and David to bring their one-of-a-kind chemistry to these stories and welcome back our knockout supporting cast who help make Daddy Issues such a ridiculously fun world to spend time in.”

The 6 x 30 minute series was commissioned by Jon Petrie, Director of Comedy Commissioning at the BBC and Fiona Campbell in her capacity as Controller, Youth Audience, BBC iPlayer and BBC Three.

The director is George Kane (How to Get to Heaven from Belfast), the producer is Andrew Harvey (Avoidance) and the executive producers are Phil Gilbert (White Gold) for Fudge Park Productions, alongside Aimee Lou Wood, David Morrissey, Danielle Ward and Damon Beesley.

“As Daddy Issues becomes a threenager, it’s been great seeing audiences take Gemma and Malcolm to their hearts. Danielle has created a brilliantly sharp, fearless comedy and we can’t wait to see the Moscrips take the next, slightly wobbly steps in life with a toddler,” stated Petrie.
