Manchester City Council has unveiled its Christmas advert which it hopes will once again “tug at your heart strings”.
Manchester agency Flow Creative won a competitive brief to work alongside the council’s in-house design studio, MFour, on the brief, with support from sound design studio Gas Music.
The 2min 20sec video, which has been influenced by Scandinavian folk art, follows a young girl called Maya whose only wish at Christmas is to find new friends.
The animated film, called Come Together for Christmas, includes familiar Manchester scenes including the skyline, St Peter’s Square Metrolink stop and the Christmas Markets.
It’s become a tradition for the council to join retailers in producing a Christmas video, with its 2017 ad racking up millions of views online and becoming something of a viral hit.
