£250k automated binding and punching investment quadruples turnaround at Yorkshire printer

After a significant period of growth in demand for products like diaries and calendars, despite the much-heralded switch to digital, instantprint has unveiled a £250,000 investment in the RENZ INLINE 500, a state-of-the-art, fully automatic punching and binding line designed to accelerate and elevate its wire-bound product offering.

Built for industrial-scale output, the RENZ INLINE 500 combines precision German engineering with operator-friendly automation, quadrupling production speed and allowing instantprint to deliver up to 2,000 wire-bound products per hour. The upgrade significantly increases instantprint’s capacity to fulfil demand for professional-quality bound books, presentations and calendars at speed and scale. Customers will now be able to get more of the books they want printing on faster turnarounds, along with sharper binds, smoother workflow and expanded formats.

The RENZ INLINE 500 handles formats up to 500mm wide, punches through up to 4.5mm thickness, and binds up to 15mm wire in a fully automated sequence. With its Quick Size Adjustment (QSA) system and touch screen-assisted setup, the line enables lightning-fast format changes, cutting downtime between jobs to as little as five minutes.

“This investment in the RENZ INLINE 500 strengthens our ability to deliver high-quality wire-bound products at scale delivering higher volumes and faster turnarounds than any other major UK printer.” said Jon Constantine-Smith, head of instantprint.

This latest upgrade marks another milestone in instantprint’s ongoing technology and sustainability roadmap. Following a recent £8m expansion into large format, the RENZ INLINE 500 reinforces the company’s commitment to speed, quality and eco-conscious production – as with all instantprint operations, the line uses FSC-certified paper and recyclable packaging.

South Yorkshire-based instantprint specialises in 24-hour flyers and leaflets, business cards, posters and stationery. As part of its recent £8m investment, instantprint also now offers next day printing across PVC Banners, and in 2020, the printing firm increased its total footprint by 45% to 147,000sq ft, paving the way for the current dedicated large format printing facility.

instantprint uses only FSC-certified paper stocks and is ISO certified, and all packaging, even the plastic, is recyclable. As part of its commitment to achieving carbon net-zero status by 2035, instantprint gained carbon neutral certification for 2020–2021 and has pledged to achieve the same again every year after.
