Here, she shares a recent week in her life…
Monday
Client work and press release strategy – Mondays are always an early start as I head to Alderley Park to work onsite with one of my clients. It still amazes me how expansive this site is—it’s hard to believe it was once home to a single company. The morning is spent catching up on emails, meetings, and planning the week ahead.
After lunch, I head home and take Poppy, my dog, for a walk. Once refreshed, I check and schedule content for the social media accounts I manage, ensuring everything is in place for the week ahead. As I fully manage some accounts, I’m constantly monitoring comments and messages to ensure timely responses.
Over the weekend, I met with a hospitality client who recently won a national award for the best restaurant. With client sign-off received, I finalise their press release and begin outreach to key publications. I prefer sending out press releases early in the week to allow time for follow-ups and increase the chances of coverage later in the week.
Tuesday
Business development and client marketing strategy – The day begins with the school run, and luckily, I’m back at my desk by 8:30 AM. I dedicate some time to business development for Icon, including social media updates and blog planning, as well as researching new opportunities and potential collaborations.
The morning continues with an internal team check-in to review campaign performance. We’re currently running a paid social campaign for a performing arts school, and the ROAS has been fantastic. A midday walk with Poppy provides a welcome break before diving into a client meeting to review their digital marketing performance. For this ecommerce business, we focus on improving website visibility through SEO and influencer collaborations.
I also present an advertising strategy deck, which the client agrees to trial. It’s always rewarding when plans come together! To enhance performance, I negotiate added-value opportunities with media owners. Later, I connect with my designer to ensure she has everything she needs for the campaign. As a fellow working mum, she always delivers with precision and speed.
Wednesday
Networking & co-working trial – After the school run and a morning walk with Poppy, I attend a networking event to connect with businesses and explore potential collaborations. I intentionally operate a WFH model to keep costs competitive for SMEs and startups, but today, I trialled a local hotdesking provider for the afternoon.
Once settled, I tackle emails and ongoing projects before wrapping up for the day and heading to my belly dance class. I rediscovered this hobby after attending classes during my time in Singapore as a marketing manager. It’s a fantastic way to stay fit, unwind, and meet new people — including another Kiesha!
Thursday
Media outreach & SEO audits – The morning starts with press release follow-ups, and I receive confirmation that the hospitality story will be featured in publications just in time for the weekend. Another networking event provides an opportunity to catch up with familiar faces and nurture relationships that may lead to future collaborations.
Back at my desk, I finalise a proposal for a potential client’s new website and send it for feedback. After a quick walk with Poppy, I delve into industry news and conduct blog topic research for an e-commerce client. The afternoon is dedicated to an SEO audit for a client’s website, with detailed recommendations for improvements. The day wraps up with a review of key tasks and planning for Friday’s workload.
Friday
Client reporting & strategy development – Fridays are often my busiest day as I aim to wrap up the week efficiently. Although I handle urgent enquiries over the weekend, I like to finish Friday knowing everything is in order so I can enjoy family time. The morning starts with preparing performance reports and following up with clients to discuss progress and next steps. After lunch and a walk with Poppy, I hold an informal team meeting and research potential clients, drafting outreach emails.
I also put the final touches on a strategic plan for a B2B client, covering a mix of events, LinkedIn strategies, PR, and sector-specific advertising. The week ends on a high note as I send the confirmed PR coverage to my hospitality client — who is thrilled with the response, telling me the restaurant’s phone has been ringing non-stop. Securing press coverage is one of the most fulfilling aspects of my job! To close the week, I pick up the kids from school and treat them to a takeaway, sparking lively debates about where to order from. A well-earned reward after a productive week!
